Cirkled In
By now you are probably in the final stages of planning for the upcoming school year which could be all virtual or a hybrid model. Either way, e-leaning will be the new norm that is complemented with Cirkled In as an e-Portfolio. Cirkled In is like "LinkedIn for students". We would love to discuss how award-winning Cirkled In helps students be college and career ready.
You have probably followed the news of the University of California system, followed by many universities including the University of Washington who have moved away from the SAT/ACT altogether and will be evaluating candidates holistically. Cirkled In helps your student compile all their activities, highlight themselves in the best possible way to colleges and recruiters, and increase their success rate. Award-winning Cirkled In is becoming the de-facto platform for students and college recruiters alike.
Your high school student can also research colleges, think about essay topics, and even take virtual tours to “visit” these colleges, all within Cirkled In. For more information, go to https://www.cirkledin.com/

A Unique Career Opportunity for Students
My name is Ashley Smith, and I am the Program Director of a new dental assisting school operated by the Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS). Attached to DCDS headquarters in North Dallas, our school is unique in that it is supported by our local membership of over 1300 American Dental Association dentists.
DCDS Dental Assisting School’s main focus is to provide quality training to individuals who want to work in dentistry, but are concerned with the often exorbitant cost of training programs. Our course is 12 weeks long and tuition is $4,800.00; which includes books, supplies, scrubs, CPR certification and RDA registration with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
We work with our network of dentists to determine exactly what they need from their dental team and, with approval from the Texas Workforce Commission, tailor our curriculum to meet their needs. Our true advantage is that we have general and specialty dentist members of our society who will serve as instructors with our students rotating through their offices as externs; our students are invited to their externships, rather than having to find their own. Students at the DCDS Dental Assisting School learn to maximize skills to become valued and contributing members of the dental team.
We also invite you and your students to tour our new facilities so you can discover how DCDS Dental Assisting School prepares students to become world-class dental assistants.
More information is available on our website at www.dcdsdas.org, and I can be reached at asmith@dcds.org or 972-386-5741 x229. I look forward to talking with you soon!

Degree and Pilot’s License program at Stephen F. Austin
Beginning this fall, Stephen F. Austin State University is offering students the opportunity to earn a professional pilot’s license along with a Bachelor of Science degree through the School of Human Sciences.
The aviation sciences initiative provides a well-rounded education as well as flight training at an economical cost. This investment includes faculty members who will give students the individual attention they need in classes limited to 30 students. Plus, students will fly new technically advanced aircraft and train in new full-motion simulators during their first semester of flight courses.
Pre-COVID-19, the U.S. airline industry needed 800,000 airline transport pilots over the next 20 years. However, the effects of the pandemic have led many pilots to retire early during 2020 and 2021. As a result, the demand for pilots in 2023 is expected to reach pre-COVID-19 levels again and continue to grow at a 5% rate, which is faster than average for all occupations.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for airline pilots, copilots and flight engineers was $147,220 in May 2019. The median annual wage for commercial pilots was $86,080 in May 2019.
