Plant Science 

The Plant Science program of study focuses on the science, research, and business of plants and other living organisms. It teaches students how to apply biology and life science to real-world life processes of plants and vegetation, either in laboratories or in the field.

Michaela Bledsoe

Michaela Bledsoe is the agriculture teacher at Ranchview High School. She graduated from Texas A&M University – Commerce with her bachelor’s degree in agriculture education and her master’s degree in agricultural science. Ms. Bledsoe developed her love of agriculture from her own experiences in FFA. After learning that the field is far more diverse than simply farming, she wanted to share her newfound passion with others and pursued a career in education. She has taught at Texas A&M – Commerce as a GA teacher and manager of the university greenhouses. Afterwards, she moved to South Korea to teach English and learn about agriculture abroad – putting the culture in agriculture. She also works as an adjunct professor of agriculture at Collin College. Ms. Bledsoe works to help students see the world of ag around them – from the food we eat, the clothes we wear, to the plants in our everyday lives. Ms. Bledsoe enjoys reading, studying languages, and tending to her plants.

Ranchview FFA is a student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The students compete against other schools in contests, complete community service hours, serve in leadership positions, become eligible for scholarships, travel for conventions and workshops, and participate in fellowship events – all while learning about agriculture.
